May Alix performed as a vocalist
with Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five and with Jimmie Noone's Apex Orchestra.
Her friend Alberta Hunter also recorded under the name May Alix in order
to evade exclusive contracts with recording studios. Alberta Hunter claimed
that she used the name to give her friend more exposure.
