Photograph of compositional sorting of sand on Talofofo Beach, Guam

Photograph of patches of olivine sand (green) and magnetite sand (black) on Talofofo Beach, Guam.

Wind action has, in places, separated the brown sand of Talofofo Beach into a green, olivine-rich layer, and a black, magnetite-rich layer. Behind us, close to the water, you can see the usual brown color of the mixed sand. The round things lying on the sand are old coconuts.

Return to Talofofo Beach.
