The tangan-tangan looks better in this photo than it does in real life.
The brownish seed pods are at the top of bare branches, the sparse leaves
in the middle. It is a fast-growing weed tree. The tangan-tangan in this
photo has grown up since Typhoon Paka stripped the area about a year and
a half ago. People say that tangan-tangan makes excellent wood for barbecue.
But it makes a darn ugly ground cover, and we can only dream about Guam
must have looked like before this plant took over.
